Cocktail Hour with The Salcombe Distilling Company

Gin and sailing are a partnership that dates back hundreds of years, long before the first ever Princess yacht was conceived, so we are proud to partner with local Devon distillers the Salcombe Distilling Company who produce award-winning gins just a few miles up the coast from our Plymouth shipyards.

Chris Percy, Salcombe Distilling Co’s resident Mixologist, showed us how to make some signature gin cocktails as part of our Princess Experience Series.

X95 ‘Superfly’ Launch

In an industry first, Princess held the eagerly anticipated Global launch of the new ‘Superfly’ X95 via Facebook Live on the 27th July 2020. The event, hosted by Princess Yachts’ CMO Kiran Haslam, Director of Design Andy Lawrence, Chief Sales Officer Will Green, COO/CTO Paul Mackenzie, Design Consultant Sarah Verey and Executive Chairman Antony Sheriff. Consisting of a very open & honest round-table Q&A, nothing about the X95 was off-limits and questions were posed on all areas, from conception through to completion. The presentation culminated with exclusive footage, showcasing the yacht - inside and out.

Viewers were given a behind-the-scenes experience that has never been seen before. As well as making this the single largest global audience for any launch since Princess began in 1965, the session is still available to be viewed on Facebook or click below to watch.

A shared passion for sustainability and ocean conservation

We’re delighted to announce a new brand partnership with Ecoworks Marine, the leading supplier of sustainable cleaning products for the marine industry, to help tackle the challenge of creating a more environmentally friendly approach to yacht cleaning.

This starter kit includes a full range of both environmentally friendly interior and exterior cleaning products, as well as items for sustainable living while on board such as eco laundry cleaner and eco washing-up liquid. All products are pH neutral, non-caustic and non-flammable, making them the only range on the market to be fully International Maritime Organisation MARPOL compliant. Furthermore, they come supplied in fully recyclable packing, with even the filling inside Ecoworks’ cardboard boxes made from potato peelings that are fully biodegradable.

This new partnership underlines Princess’s continued commitment to sustainability and ocean conservation. With an ambition to set industry benchmarks in environmental preservation, Princess was the first yacht building company to achieve ISO 14001, a set of processes which it adheres to during manufacturing to help reduce environmental impacts. The business also recently joined MarineShift360, a rigorous programme of life cycle analysis of materials and manufacturing processes aimed at exploring more sustainable manufacturing techniques.

In 2020, the very first Ocean Photographer of the Year will be crowned at the prestigious new Ocean Photography Awards. Princess Yachts has joined forces with Oceanographic Magazine and the non-profit organisation SeaLegacy – a collective of photographers, filmmakers, writers and strategists working together with the aim of engaging one billion people in ocean conservation – to launch these new awards. The innovative collaboration will see Princess Yachts become an official supporter of the Ocean Photography Awards 2020, the first awards to focus exclusively on celebrating the best amateur and professional photography of our oceans across the globe. With a shared passion for sustainability and conservation, Princess Yachts has partnered with Oceanographic Magazine on this new initiative to showcase the standout imagery of our oceans, reflecting themes of conservation, exploration and adventure. The awards ceremony will be held at London’s City Hall in August and will be attended by the biggest names in the world of ocean photography, as well as including a keynote address on the ‘State of the Ocean’.

Ocean photographers of all disciplines and experience levels are invited to submit their most impactful imagery to be judged by a panel of some of the world’s leading ocean photographers.

The standout judging panel consists of seven members of SeaLegacy’ world-renowned Collective, including acclaimed Canadian wildlife photographer and documentary maker Paul Nicklen; marine biologist and award-winning photographer Cristina Mittermeier; and Emmy Award winning marine cinematographer Shawn Heinrichs.
